Can I Put Personal Items in My Car When It Ships?

The short answer is: technically yes, but with important limits. Here's what you need to know.

    The Rules

Most carriers allow up to 100 lbs of personal items in the trunk, below the window line. Items must be secured and not block the driver's view. However, personal items are NOT covered by the carrier's cargo insurance. If items are stolen or damaged, you have no recourse.

    What to Avoid

Never put: valuables (electronics, jewelry), important documents, hazardous materials, or anything that could shift and damage the vehicle's interior. If you must include personal items, pack them in the trunk only.

No. The carrier's cargo insurance covers the vehicle only. Personal items are shipped at your own risk and should not exceed 100 lbs.
